Video Submission Guidelines

To ensure that your video is approved and posted on Operation Prepare’s Blog and YouTube Video pages, follow these easy tips for recording and submitting your video:

• Record your video using any of the following recording devices: cell phone, camcorder or digital camera

• Your video can be in any of these formats: AVI, MPEG, Quicktime, Real and Windows Media. Most devices record in these formats

• The recommended resolution for your video is 1280x720 (16x9HD), but 640x480 (4:3 SD) works too

• Your video’s file size cannot exceed 100 MB

• Keep your video between 30 seconds and 3 minutes in length

• Videos will be chosen on the basis of its content, helpfulness in encouraging people to be prepared by using the principles of Operation Prepare (Be informed, Have a plan, Make a kit) and general clarity of the message

• Videos should not include copyrighted material or material that requires permission from another owner

• Once your video is created, CLICK HERE to submit it to your video.

• When you submit your video, make sure to include “Operation Prepare” and your first initial and last name on the subject line of your email.

• In the body of your submission e-mail, please provide a short paragraph synopsis of your video and include your name, rank and location/installation to receive proper credit. For information on Operation Prepare’s Privacy and Ownership Policy, CLICK HERE.

• All videos will be reviewed by CNIC Emergency Management Program (CNIC N37) and the Public Affairs Office (PAO) to ensure accuracy and reliability of information as well as compliance with Department of Navy policies and regulations

• Owners of approved videos will be notified via email about their video being featured on Operation Prepare’s Blog and YouTube pages.

• Videos may be rejected due to the following reasons: Poor video quality, excessive background noise, poor lighting, video volume too loud or too soft, offensive language or content, failure of video submission to play correctly, video length issues (too short/long) or irrelevance to the subject matter
